Dilliwala 6

If you want to try Indian food in the French colony this is a must visit restaurant and being our first dinner it did not disappoint us at all. This is a pure-veg restaurant. We ordered Naan Pizzas, Dilliwali chandni chowk chole bhature, Jain mixed veg gravy, paneer afghani with some naans and for desserts we ordered Banana splits and butterscotch sundae.

The interior and set up of this is very quirky and cute and in sync with the Pondy vibe. The ambience is mind blowing, service is very quick and the staff is very patient and courteous.

The prices are affordable and quality and quantity is not at all disappointing. Overall everything was exemplary so do not miss out trying their amazing Indian flavours.

Le Cafe

So as we were taking a stroll on the rock beach, we happen to pass by this over crowded cafe on the Rock beach so we thought of trying out our luck for lunch the next day but sadly as one has said “looks are deceptive” and it was true in this case. The food was pathetic and a big bleh. It is a self service joint but it takes more time to wait than to actually finish the food. The food that we chose from the menu was Pasta, Lasagna, Sandwich, Pizzas, French fries and grilled chicken.

The Pasta, Lasagna, Sandwich and Pizza were made with same base sauces and spices. The food was uncooked and cold hence making it chewy. The pictures they put up on Zomato are totally misleading. They should change their name from Le cafe to No cafe because basic hot coffee was not available or as told to us was out of stock.

The staff is very rude and does not respond to you queries and the food is totally overpriced so its a big NO to visit this place.

Canteen 18

We were randomly cycling through the streets of Pondy and spotted this place. This cafe occupies a small corner on the street and can occupy only 5 to 6 people at a time. We ordered veg and non-veg burgers and sandwiches with some cold and hot coffee to sip on. The owner himself prepares and serves the food so you may expect a delay in the preparations but it is all worth the wait. This place is good for snacking at the high-tea time. Make sure to reach early so that you don’t have to compromise with the unavailability of the food listen in the menu.

La Pasta

This joint apparently is a very famous Pasta serving place in Pondy. But to be very honest we visited the place but were not given tables. We experienced a very unwelcoming behaviour from the owners end as foreigners were given more priority over Indians as per our observation so we decided to leave and have dinner else where which was at New Farm Fresh.

New Farm Fresh

To have some good Italian food in Pondy, this is the place to go. They serve the best thin crust Pizzas and lip lurking Pastas. We enjoyed our very heavy and content dinner. The place also serves sizzlers, ravioli, sandwiches, burgers, lasagna and milkshakes etc. but we went with their Italian menu. Hence it is a big thumbs up to this place.
